| Outline of Planning Steps: | This project was easy to prepare for. We were fortunate enough to have a few members that could sew and had machines. We purchased and organized the material, cut out the pattern, sewed them together, stuffed them and put a label on the bears so that they would know who it was from. We had done this project a while back. The chapter needed to provide any donated fabric, stuffing and tools (machine, scissors, etc) and then show up to make the bears. |

During the execution of the project, what areas/procedures went well?
Making the bears was a lot easier than expected. It was also very easy to get the materials thanks to the material from the Youth Service Grant and material donated from friends and members.
During the execution of the project, what areas/procedures could have been improved?
Sadly, we did not get nearly as much participation as we wanted, but this project was dependent on getting the youth service grant funds. Since we were unable to know until halfway through the semester, we had to squeeze it into a time that not many could make. Our spring semester fills up fast with events and this event had to take a bad time. Also, the location that we did the bears was nice, but I would have liked to have a room with better tables.
Our biggest challenge was trying to schedule a time with someone who had a sewing machine and knew how to use it. Thankfully, we have an awesome advisor that I was able to go to and ask for help. She volunteered herself to be able to provide and run the machine when we needed it.
Additional information provided regarding this project:
While we were all sewing the bears we all thought that next time we should make it so kids would be able to help make the bears.
We are for sure doing this project again in the fall. We should be able to accommodate around peoples' schedules better since we have more time to plan. We plan to have more machines, a room of our own, and maybe even make it so some kids can come in and make their own bears.
