April, 2007: National Prevent Child Abuse Month

Written By: Amanda Roberts-Lieb (April 10, 2007)

"Nothing you do for children is ever wasted. They seem not to notice us, hovering, averting our eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted."
Garrison Keillor ()

Service Project Ideas

*Make and hand out blue ribbons to your campus/community to wear. This will help bring child abuse awearness to your campus and community.

*Contact your local Prevent Child Abuse America chapter and volunteer to aid them in any projects they maybe having this month.

*Contact your local after school programs and provide a information workshop for the children about what child abuse/neglect is and who they can contact if they are being abused/neglected or know of someone who is being abused/neglected.

*Hold a clothing drive for childrens clothing. Then provide the clothing to the local social service agencies. The social service agencies can then provide it to children who they see that have been abused or neglected.

Featured Organization of the Month

Prevent Child Abuse America

Interesting Statistics

*4 children die every day as a result of child abuse and three of the four victims are under the age of 4.

*A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds.

*One-third of abused and neglected children will later abuse their own children, continuing the horrible cycle of abuse.
